Unfair & Unreasonable Terms

St Louis(KABS-ESTL)- For decades African American entertainment industry workers have communicated thru various outlets in the media, expressing their concerns regarding the indemnity clause in entertainment contracts, in which artist are left with all of the burden and risk, while the contractor creates the wording so deceiving that record and film executives are held harmless for any losses at their control.
Recording contracts have been labelled "Modern Day Slavery" by major artist such as Kayne "Yeezy"West, who generated attention when he expressed concerns within the scope of Universal Music Group alleged mistreatment of artist. Artist such as Megan 'Thee Stallion", Lil Wayne, De La Soul, 2 Pac, Anita Baker, have taken the issue to publicly call for reform within the scope of the deprivation of money and possessions thru fraudulent contractual activity that benefits one while placing financial burden towards the other.
Predatory deal making thru misrepresentation, oppresive and unconscionable acts against artist as well as fans of the artist, to whom they believed they were supporting. Record executives are accused of these unethical methods of operation in regards to the encompassed fraud against entertainment artist in music, film and forms of entertainment not listed in this article, that executives place a confidentiality clause eliminating the knowledge of the details of these fraudulent agreements.
Upfront investments from labels, are inherently unfair structured payments that only the top tier entertainers can recoup back to the label, the late rapper, DMX did an interview, DMX, complained that he spent thousands on his own music equipment yet was still overcharged by the label in regards to the royalties generated from DMX catalog due to the terms and conditions of the deal DMX signed.
The three common deals that are usually offerd are the following contractual obligations, these contracts includes the following, Standard Royalty Deal (Advance), 360 deal (Revolving Percentage of Career Earnings, and Net Profit deal (40/60-50/50 deal). Artist have also expressed concern regarding the new trend of capitalizing off deceased rappers, by forcing life insurance prior to death for recoupment.
